This position plays a critical role in the operating room by preparing and providing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment during procedures. The individual ensures that surgery runs smoothly by anticipating the surgical team's needs, maintaining a sterile environment, and supporting OR turnover between cases. Attention to detail, adherence to aseptic technique, and the ability to function effectively under pressure are essential to success in this role.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing surgical instruments and supplies, verifying readiness and functionality
• Passing instruments and assisting the surgeon during procedures while adhering to aseptic principles
• Participating in the counting of sharps, instruments, and sponges to maintain safety
• Cleaning and preparing instruments for sterilization after surgery
• Assisting with OR turnover by stocking and cleaning rooms between cases
• Maintaining accurate surgeon preference cards and supply pick lists
• Supporting administrative tasks within the department as assigned
• Following all regulatory, safety, and infection control protocols

Qualifications and Desired

Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Graduation from a certified surgical technology program or at least two years of operating room experience preferred
• Demonstrated manual dexterity and ability to maintain professionalism under pressure
• Ability to stand, bend, lift up to 75 pounds, and meet physical demands of direct patient care
• Effective communication skills both verbal and written
