Slingshot Hardware System Administrator
This role has been designed as 'Hybrid' with a requirement that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.

Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs hardware and software programs for new Slingshot products. Develops software including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design.
As Systems Administrator you will have the opportunity to be part of the team that brings High Performance Computing networking ASICs to the latest HPE supercomputers. In this role you will be responsible for hardware and software installation and updates, as well as monitoring system status to ensure maximum uptime across various development systems supporting validation of networking ASICs and software for Slingshot-based supercomputers.
Responsibilities:- Debug and fix prototype and Slingshot system issues as they occur to maximize uptime.
- Work closely with Slingshot ASIC, hardware (PC board), and software teams to enable silicon validation and bring-up testing.
- Maintain daily updates of development software stack on systems.
- Maintain and improve existing system status reporting infrastructure.
- Help debug system issues to isolate root cause of failures.
- Build compute node images with latest OS versions and software stack updates.
- Help administer compute cluster for system validation team.
- Collaborates and communicates with management and internal partners regarding design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
- Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members.
Required:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
- Typically 4-6 years experience as a system and/or network administrator and lab technician.
Skills:
- Experience working servers, networks, file systems, Linux based operating systems.
- Experience with batch compute clusters desired. (eg. LSF, Slurm)
- Scripting ability:
Shell/Bash, Python - Experience working in a hardware lab environment, including experience with proper safety and electrical procedures.
- The ability to work well in a cooperative and transparent development environment, both within and across teams.
- A willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and embrace new challenges.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and an appetite for learning.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language. Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at management levels.
