The Purchasing Manager leads procurement execution and material-flow activities that support manufacturing schedules, engineering priorities, and customer commitments. You will lead and develop the Buyer team and maintain accountability for materials from purchase-order placement through receipt and delivery to production or R&D. This position is part of the materials and supply chain organization in Fort Collins, Colorado, and is an onsite role.
In this role, a typical day will look like:
- Lead, coach, and develop Buyers through clear expectations, standard work, accountability, and development planning.
- Direct daily purchasing and materials execution through Daily Visual Management, so orders and deliveries align with production schedules and customer requirements.
- Analyze demand, forecasts, inventory, purchase orders, and supplier commitments to identify and mitigate supply risks.
- Lead supplier escalations involving shortages, delivery, quality, and capacity.
- Partner with Strategic Sourcing on supplier transitions, dual sourcing, cost reduction, and supplier-performance initiatives.
- Support new-product introductions, engineering changes, product transitions, and demand-review or S&O processes.
- Lead cross-functional improvement work involving material availability, inventory, schedule attainment, and operational execution.
- Improve materials processes through Lean, Kaizen, Visual Daily Management, KPIs, standard work, ERP, and MRP.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in materials management, purchasing, inventory control, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.
- At least 3 years of leadership experience managing supply chain or materials teams
- Experience supporting manufacturing or production environments using ERP/MRP systems and inventory-control processes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing, material planning, MRP, inventory control, receiving, and warehouse practices.
- Experience analyzing demand, forecast, inventory, purchase-order, or supplier-performance data and turning findings into action.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
- Experience with S&O, demand planning, inventory optimization, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or continuous improvement
It would be a plus if you also have:
- A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field.
- APICS/ASCM CPIM, CSCP, or related certification.
- Experience leading Buyers and warehouse or inventory personnel.
