Position Summary

The Machinist – Level II operates CNC machining equipment to produce precision aerospace components in accordance with engineering, quality, and customer requirements. This role assists with 5-axis CNC machine setup and operation under supervision and plays an active role in inspection, documentation, continuous improvement, and team-based manufacturing operations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years CNC machining experience with aerospace blueprints, drawings, and specifications (or equivalent education/experience)
  • Ability to independently operate CNC machines and perform daily maintenance
  • Experience working with manufacturing-based technology, processes, and principles
  • Proficiency using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, drawings, specifications, manuals, and safety regulations
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English
  • Positive, solutions-oriented “can-do” attitude
Preferred Qualifications
  • Skilled Trade certification from an accredited college, community college, or vocational school
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience assisting with 5-axis CNC machine setup and operation
  • Solid mid-level math skills (fractions, decimals, basic arithmetic)
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC equipment to produce machined aerospace components
  • Assist with CNC machine setup under supervision of Shift Supervisor or Machinist – Level III
  • Change cutting tools and adjust feeds and speeds as required
  • Utilize precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, gauge pins, and other inspection tools
  • Follow production work orders (travelers) and associated documentation
  • Ensure all required documentation is complete and accurate
  • Perform First Part (FP) and in-process inspections per AS9100 Quality System requirements
  • Detect and report defective equipment, materials, or operations to the Shift Supervisor
  • Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, organized condition
  • Follow all workplace rules, safety regulations, and PPE requirements
  • Identify needs for work instructions and setup documentation for new or changing work
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Communicate clearly with co-workers and supervisory personnel
  • Work effectively in a team environment with diverse personalities and communication styles
  • Accept feedback constructively and adapt to change
  • Apply basic knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing concepts
  • Develop cooperative and constructive working relationships
  • Perform other duties as assigned
