Job Title:
Process Technician - Surface Mount Technology
Location :
Colorado Springs, CO 80907
Duration: 24 months
Schedule Notes:
Day shift, Mon-Fri 7am - 3:30pm
- Troubleshoot and resolve SMT equipment, process, and production issues impacting safety, quality, yield, and throughput.
- Support SMT manufacturing processes including solder paste printing, component placement, reflow soldering, inspection, and assembly operations.
- Perform equipment setup, changeovers, preventive maintenance, repairs, calibration, and production support activities.
- Collect and analyze process and downtime data to support corrective and preventive actions.
- Assist with new product introductions, engineering evaluations, prototype builds, and process development.
- Create and maintain work instructions, equipment records, process documentation, and technical reports.
- Support tooling, fixtures, manufacturing support equipment, and critical spare parts planning.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing, safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with operators, technicians, engineers, quality, and maintenance teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Electronics, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, assembly, SMT, electronics, or other technical production environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, mechanical, electrical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, work instructions, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic documentation tools.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with SMT manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Knowledge of electronics assembly, soldering, rework, and inspection techniques.
- Experience using diagnostic equipment such as digital multimeters and oscilloscopes.
- Familiarity with automation, tooling, fixtures, lab equipment, and manufacturing support equipment.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methods.
- Experience working within ISO 9001 or similar quality system requirements.
- High standard of workmanship, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
- Logical, methodical approach to troubleshooting and process improvement.
- Ability to stay effective in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong teamwork, collaboration, adaptability, and positive attitude.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and support innovative manufacturing processes.
