Job Summary

The Lead Medication Assistant organizes and assigns resident assistants to ensure residents’ plans of care are carried out and documented. They deliver age‑appropriate care for adult and geriatric residents, maintain communication with resident assistants, provide hands‑on care, and assist with admission processes, staff orientation, and data collection. Responsibilities include maintaining the household environment, assisting with transfers, providing daily living activity support, administering medications within scope, recording vital signs, supporting wellness and recreational programs, and assisting nursing staff during procedures.

The position also involves collecting non‑invasive specimens, documenting outcomes, and participating in committees as needed.

Qualifications

High school graduate or GED preferred but not required. Minimum age 18 preferred. Six months experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required; prior long‑term care experience preferred. Must satisfy yearly competency testing and maintain continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually). Required certifications vary by state: CNA certification (Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota) plus state‑approved medication aide/assistant courses (CMA or TMA) as applicable.

A valid driver’s license and auto insurance may be required.
