Broad Statement of ResponsibilitiesThe Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides psychiatric services to clients at All Points North Lodge. This role involves diagnosing, treating, and helping to prevent mental health and substance use disorders. The PMHNP works under the direct supervision of the Medical Director and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care. The PMHNP is responsible for developing individualized treatment plans, conducting evaluations, prescribing medication, and providing ongoing patient management.
PositionDuties and Responsibilities Clinical Care
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments.
- Diagnose mental health and substance use disorders.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe and manage medication regimens for clients.
- Provide psychotherapy and counseling services as appropriate.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
- Complete History and Physical examinations on new client admissions.
- Work closely with the Medical Director to ensure alignment with clinical protocols and standards.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review and discuss patient care plans.
- Provide consultation to other clinical staff regarding psychiatric issues.
- Engage with family members and other support systems to enhance treatment outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations concerning psychiatric care.
- Participate in quality assurance and peer review processes.
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.
- Participate in the on-call rotation as scheduled to provide after-hours support.
- Stay current with advancements in psychiatric treatment and best practices.
- Participate in continuing education and training programs.
- Maintain licensure and certification requirements.
- Obtain all APN Plus related certifications within 90 days of hire.
- Acquire licenses in all APN locations outside of CO within 60 days (CA, FLA, TX).
- Operate at a minimum of 63% efficiency, providing 5 hours of direct care daily.
- Monitor and report on productivity metrics to ensure optimal use of time and resources.
- Minimal travel required, primarily within the local area for prescriber coverage, professional development and training. Also, travel may be required as needed for attendance at professional meetings, conferences, and training sessions to stay current with professional developments and/or psychiatry.
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
- Valid and unrestricted nursing license in the state of Colorado.
- DEA certification for prescribing controlled substances.
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders and treatment modalities.
- Proficiency in medical record documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current in the field of psychiatry.
- Must possess all APN Plus related certifications within 90 days of hire.
- Must possess legal right to work in the United States.
- Minimum of three years of experience in a clinical psychiatric setting, preferably including experience in treating substance use disorders and working in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of psychiatric disorders.
- Proficiency in psychopharmacology and psychotherapy.
- Ability to manage complex cases and provide comprehensive care.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle psychiatric emergencies.
- Must be capable of routine physical activities, including standing, bending, and lifting weights up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and sit for extended periods.
