Registered Nurse (RN) Infusion
Health & Wellness – Full‑time, Monday‑Friday, 8–5 plus call
Job OverviewHealth & Wellness provides care to adult or pediatric patients with conditions that can be treated with intravenous (IV), intramuscular (IM), or subcutaneous (SQ) medications.
Therapies include medications via IV, IM, or SQ route and via ambulatory infusion pumps. Typical treatments are IV anti‑infectives, IV immunotherapy, IV hydration, and anti‑emetic therapy.
Clinical Responsibilities- Educate patients about disease process, drugs, side effects, procedures, protocols, and complications using videos, handouts, and one‑on‑one methods.
- Perform outpatient procedures such as physical examinations, insertion of central lines and PICC lines, dressing changes, simple wound care, vital signs, weight monitoring, nursing assessments, and specimen collection.
- Make appropriate referrals based on patient needs at each visit.
- Administer medications via IV, IM, or SQ route and via ambulatory infusion pumps.
- Provide professional nursing care and give supervision and guidance to nursing staff members.
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Valid Texas RN License or Eligible Compact License.
- Experienced RN.
- Minimum of 2‑year clinical experience.
- Knowledge of clinical and nursing standards in accordance with the American Nurses Association.
- Age‑specific knowledge required for appropriate patient care.
- Working knowledge of organizational and nursing policies.
- Adequate hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills.
- Talking and hearing essential for communication.
- Visual acuity required for patient observation, assessment, and electronic charting.
- Current CPR certification from American Heart Association; ACLS may be required.
- BLS certification from American Heart Association, current.
- BSN required or must be obtained within 3 years of hire.
- Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
- Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to walk, sit, and stand most of the time; occasional lifting or patient assistance required.
- Must review, sign, and utilize UMC’s Standards of Excellence.
