Charge Nurse - Medical Surgical ICU Nights

Role Overview

Provides nursing leadership during a designated shift in a Medical Surgical ICU, supervising and mentoring staff, managing staffing levels based on patient needs, and delivering direct patient care when necessary.

• Supervises staff, ensuring adequate coverage and assigning tasks based on staff abilities, census, and acuity.
• Assists with patient care, floats to support staff, and may assume patient assignments to meet staffing needs.
• Evaluates patient care effectiveness, addresses complaints, and ensures compliance with care standards.
• Performs role-specific duties such as entering orders, managing admissions/discharges, and coordinating transfers.
• Ensures availability of necessary equipment and supplies for safe, quality care.

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; within three years of assuming the role, must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), with Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and PALS certifications.
• Minimum of one year of nursing experience.
• Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
