The Department of Psychology, part of CSU’s College of Natural Sciences, serves approximately 1400 undergraduate majors and 100 graduate students, with about 30 full‑time faculty across five doctoral programs (Applied Social and Health Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology) and two master’s programs. The department hosts several service centers, including the Psychological Services Center, Center for Meaning and Purpose, Aging Clinic of the Rockies, and the Tri‑Ethnic Center for Prevention Research.
Faculty research laboratories are located in cognitive psychology, neuroscience, and sensation and perception. More information can be found on the department’s website.
The Research Associate positions are open to candidates interested in working within these research areas and with funded research grants. Positions may be temporary or special assignment and may be renewed or reappointed on an annual term basis depending on performance and the continued availability of funding. The duties, responsibilities, and specific research projects will be assigned upon appointment based on the candidate’s qualifications.

Preferred Job QualificationsPositions at various levels (I–IV) have differing experience requirements:
- Research Associate I:
Bachelor’s degree and less than 3 years of professional, post‑baccalaureate experience. - Research Associate II
:
More than 3 years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and no other significant experience. - Research Associate III
:
Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of work‑related experience, or Master’s degree with at least 2 years experience. Ph.D. holders with no additional experience may also be appointed. - Research Associate IV
:
Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of work‑related experience, or Master’s degree with more than 5 years of experience. Ph.D. holders with at least 2 years experience may also be appointed.
