Position: Postdoctoral Research Position with Fieldwork in South Pacific

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Project PIs are Drs. Rebecca Gruby (Department of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources, CSU), Michele Betsill (Department of Political Science, CSU), and Xavier Basurto (Duke University). The fellow will be an integral member of our research team, and will contribute substantively to all aspects of project design and implementation, including international fieldwork, publications, and science/policy translation.

The postdoctoral fellow will be selected in the Fall of 2017, and work will begin in January 2018. Although the fellow will collaborate with all co-PIs, the fellow will be based in the Department of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources at Colorado State University, with Dr. Rebecca Gruby serving as lead mentor. This is a full time 12-month position with a salary of $50,000/year plus benefits.

The position will be initially contracted for 1 year. The position will be reviewed annually and, contingent upon performance and on available funds, will be appointed for two additional years for a total of 3 years.

These include the Colorado State Forest Service, US Forest Service –Rocky Mountain Research Station, US Forest Service – Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forest/Pawnee National Grasslands, National Wildlife Research Center, USDA-Agricultural Research Service, National Park Service, Natural Resource Conservation Service and the Bureau of Land Management. The University of Colorado in Boulder, Northern Colorado University in Greeley, University of Denver, and the University of Wyoming in Laramie, are all within a one-hour drive.

In addition to the many and varied cultural activities sponsored by the University, the community offers a center for performing arts, a symphony orchestra, repertory theater, choral society, and dance company. The city operates numerous indoor and outdoor pools, several ice rinks, five public golf courses, and sponsors a wide variety of leisure-time activities. Rocky Mountain National Park, Pawnee National Grasslands and Roosevelt National Forest are within 30 miles of Fort Collins.

Finally, Fort Collins is consistently identified as one of the best cities in the US to live in by various national media.
