The Inside Sales Specialist role

The Inside Sales Specialist plays a key role in supporting customers and driving sales by understanding application needs and recommending appropriate products and solutions. This position works closely with sales, operations, and product teams to guide opportunities from initial inquiry through order completion, primarily from an office-based environment.

This role is well-suited for an experienced professional who is comfortable taking ownership of their work, managing priorities independently, and contributing proactively to sales growth. Success requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining a customer-focused, results-driven mindset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted resource for customers and internal sales teams by recommending appropriate products and solutions
  • Understand customer requirements and translate them into clear, accurate quotations and proposals
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries via phone, email, and virtual meetings
  • Identify opportunities to expand business through upselling and cross-selling
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the CRM system
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through clear communication and reliable follow-through
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop proposals and respond to customer requests
  • Manage the sales process from initial inquiry through order handoff, ensuring a smooth customer experience
  • Actively engage with both new and existing customers to present value-driven solutions
  • Manage RFQs, RFPs, and order tracking to ensure customer satisfaction and timely delivery
  • Take ownership of assigned accounts and opportunities, working independently to drive results
  • Qualifying inbound leads and identify customer challenges and opportunities
  • Provide insight into market trends and competitive activity to support sales strategy
  • Maintain accurate sales pipelines and forecasts within CRM
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes and performance metrics
Qualifications
  • 4–7 years of inside sales or application-focused sales experience in a B2B manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks
  • Comfortable operating with minimal supervision in a fast-paced sales environment
  • Proficient with CRM systems and standard office tools
  • Familiarity with technical drawings, product documentation, and virtual customer engagement, preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Sitting for extended periods while using a computer and phone.
  • Manual dexterity includes frequent use of hands for typing, handling documents, and operating office equipment.
  • Must have the ability to read detailed information on screens and documents and hear conversations over the phone and in-person.
Work Environment

This role is typically performed in an office setting, with occasional travel to attend events, meet with clients, or collaborate with other departments.
