Account Development Manager
Location:
Fort Collins, CO – Retail shop
- Develop sales plans utilizing Airgas's sales directives and guidelines to service existing accounts, obtain orders, and establish new accounts. Qualify and pursue sales leads.
- Cultivate customer relationships by developing a deep knowledge of the customer's business and establishing a consultative relationship.
- Engage customers by linking the customer's business priorities to the Airgas value proposition.
- Prepare sales proposals by quoting pricing, establishing credit terms, and estimating delivery dates based on knowledge of Airgas production and delivery schedules.
- Keep current with industry insights, Airgas product mixes, and monitor competition by gathering relevant market information including pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques.
- Partner with internal resources to accomplish growth objectives and maintain clear communication with internal departments regarding customer successes, opportunities, and new developments.
- Maintain and submit sales reports (daily call reports, weekly work plans, monthly and annual territory analyses) as required by the District Manager through SAP.
- Actively review and manage existing customer Accounts Receivable balances to minimize Airgas working capital investment and financial risk.
- Proactively leverage Airgas VMI services to identify and capture expanded sales opportunities within existing accounts, focusing on increasing wallet share for secondary products and securing long‑term customer retention through high‑touch consultative service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field, or up to four years of related experience.
- Knowledge of customer segmentation and ability to prioritize customers delivering the highest value to Airgas.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) to drive company vehicle for deliveries and customer visits.
- Prior outside business‑to‑business sales experience, including solution‑selling concepts and managing customers throughout a defined sales territory.
- Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases or industrial gas/welding supply sales.
- Proven success using a consultative sales approach to provide multiple layers of value and establish mix sales solutions.
- Proven success applying deep knowledge of customer business, macro‑ and micro‑economic trends, industry trends, and new business opportunities.
- Working knowledge of SAP.
- Excellent organizational, written, oral, listening, and presentation skills.
- Strong PC skills (Windows, Word, Excel, email) and ability to adapt to a PC‑based order entry system and wireless handheld scanning device.
- Self‑starter, self‑motivated, sense of urgency, and ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
- Ability to solve practical problems and handle varied situations with limited standardization.
- Reliable transportation and current driver’s license (clean MVR).
- Adherence to Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and all applicable rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Salary range of $70,000 plus a monthly 15% variable bonus.
- Three‑month guarantee for new hires.
- Travel within assigned territory; minimal overnight stays.
