Veterinary Anatomic Pathology Residency Training with Research Opportunity
Colorado State University, Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology
Program OverviewThe Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology offers a post‑DVM training position in anatomic pathology. The program includes residency training in veterinary anatomic pathology, graduate‑level courses, and hypothesis‑driven research, culminating in specialty board certification and the award of an MS or PhD. A 1‑ to 2‑year research fellowship (non‑degree granting) is also available. Graduate course requirements are waived for applicants who hold both a DVM and a PhD, although the fellowship remains open.
The residency is facilitated by a diverse faculty of 27 ACVP, ACVM, or ACLAM board‑certified professionals. The first three years are supported by state‑funded stipends; subsequent research funding comes from grant income in the trainees’ laboratories (e.g. NIH‑sponsored training grants). Fellowship funding is available through an NIH grant. Benefits include paid tuition and health insurance. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States, hold a DVM or equivalent degree from an AVMA‑accredited college, and be able to obtain a Colorado State Academic Veterinary License.
