Safety Support Professional

  • Salary Range: $24.04 - $33.66 per hour, based on relevant years of experience
  • Location:

    Fort Collins, Colorado at both Longview campus and Garcia House
  • Status:
    Full time, 40 hours per week
  • Hours:
    • Thursday, Friday and Saturday 11:30am-12am and every other Wednesday 3:30pm – 12am at our Longview campus
    • Thursday, Friday and Saturday 11:30am-12am and every other Wednesday 3:30pm – 12am at our Garcia Residential House
  • Employees working at locations operating 24/7 earn a differential. Shift differentials are also available for evenings, nights ($7), weekends and holidays.

Role Overview:

  • Responsible for providing first line response to escalated clients and incidents across our programs/facilities, responding to safety codes, and handling urgent/emergent situations quickly as they arise in a professional and trauma informed manner with careful consideration of SHP policies, procedures, values and philosophy of care as part of a team that supports clients in healthy and therapeutic engagement while enrolled in inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Engage with clients to support healthy and therapeutic engagement, management of interpersonal conflict, and prevention of escalation and other critical incidents.
  • Provide first line responses to escalated clients and incidents at our 24/7 facilities or other outpatient/community-based sites. Assist other staff in assessing potentially dangerous situations; intervene to prevent situations from escalating into violence. Assist staff in crises that may require physical interventions.
  • Perform both verbal de-escalation and physical management/control techniques on individuals showing signs of emotional, verbal and/or physical aggression.
  • Contact and assist law enforcement agencies and emergency health care personnel as requested or required.
  • Transport or provide support during transportation of escalated clients or clients in crisis.
  • Participate in and help facilitate safety drills across Summit Stone facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or completion of G.E.D. required

License and

Certifications:

  • Valid Colorado driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record required
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • More than two years of experience working in behavioral health setting or programs preferred
  • At least one year of experience as safety, security, or first responder preferred
