Overview
The Bilingual Victim Advocate is responsible for providing victim advocacy and crisis intervention services to sexual violence survivors and their family members, with a particular emphasis on serving people within the Latinx communities of Northern Colorado. The Bilingual Victim Advocate collaborates with community partners to provide on- and off-site advocacy, facilitates psycho educational groups, supports the sexual assault crisis hotline, and implements targeted outreach programs.
Must be fluent in Spanish and English.
- Advocacy:
Provide direct crisis intervention, legal and medical advocacy, resource mapping, and safety planning via telephone or face-to-face for victims of sexual violence and their families. - Participate in evening and weekend on-call support, which can include answering the 24-hour hotline and medical or legal accompaniment.
- Offer advocacy support at hospitals, police stations, courthouses, and incarceration facilities as needed.
- Co-facilitate psycho educational groups as needed.
- Conduct client evaluations and track outcome measurements.
- Collect and enter statistical data on service provision.
- Conduct outreach in Northern Colorado for both Spanish- and English-speaking populations, including organizing presentations, events, booths, and publications to generate awareness of SAVA services.
- Collect data and evaluate targeted outreach activities.
- Complete 40-Hour Hotline Training.
- Attend staff meetings regularly.
- Participate in SAVA-related events.
- Assist with answering phones, processing mail, and general office duties as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- This position will work in both Fort Collins and Greeley offices.
- Fluency in both Spanish and English, including strong reading and writing skills in both languages.
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field OR equivalent work experience.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Reliable transportation and ability to commute throughout Northern Colorado.
- Experience developing outreach programs and supportive materials.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and best practices in advocacy and crisis response.
- Strong public speaking and facilitation skills.
