Community Justice Pretrial Specialist
Larimer County Alternative Sentencing Department is seeking a Community Justice Pretrial Specialist to join our team. This is an entry-level position offering the opportunity to gain an understanding of judicial services, programs, and policies, knowledge of court and sentencing processes, understanding of the workings of a correctional environment, understanding of criminal behaviors, and methods of conflict resolution. In this role, you'll work in the Pretrial Services program supporting adult offenders in Larimer County.
Successful candidates can expect to begin their employment with Pretrial Services working in the Intake Unit housed in the booking area at the Larimer County Jail. The intake unit is staffed 24/7, so shifts include day, swing and night shifts. A successful candidate will also be able and willing to work weekends and holidays. Larimer County also now has a Pretrial facility in Loveland, so there is a possibility shifts will be completed there.
What you'll be doing:
- Interviewing each arrestee.
- Conducting criminal history investigations.
- Verifying information on the bond application.
- Using the information gathered in these investigations and criteria set forth in Colorado Statutes and Administrative Orders.
- Making recommendations to the court regarding bond conditions and type in order to help reduce the risk for the individual's potential return to the community.

What we're looking for:
- A proficient writer.
- Ability to learn new databases.
- Compile information from databases into a report for the court.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
- Two (2) years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities preferred.
- Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or a related field required. Related education or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
- Possession of Adult CPR, First Aid and AED certification within three (3) months of hire date required.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire is required.
