Engineering a world of possibilities The Response Coordinating Case Manager (RCCM) is part of the Student Outreach and Support (SOS)
Team to support the mental health and well-being of the Mines student body. Reporting to the Associate Director of SOS, the Response Coordinating Case Manager contributes to systematic and individualized non-clinical case management, outreach, crisis assessment, and coordination of referrals for students of concern. The RCCM adheres to systems, policies, and procedures to ensure thorough and effective case management for students of concern.
The RCCM is a key partner in campus-wide efforts to engage and support faculty, staff, students, and families of students in creating a campus learning community that prioritizes student safety and wellness and supports the academic mission of Mines.
This is a 10-month position, working August
- May with June and July off.
The position requires on-campus presence in Golden, Colorado during those 10 months.
Normal working hours are Monday
- Thursday, 11am - 9pm.
Student Outreach & Crisis Support
- Receive and respond to assigned SOS referrals via email, phone, or in-person outreach from faculty, staff, students and non-Mines community members
- Provide outreach, referrals, and non-clinical case management for students of concern, including graduate, undergraduate, and online students
- Provide student case management and intervention, including referrals from Academic units, Student Life Departments, Title IX, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure comprehensive case management
- Contribute to student risk assessments, recommendations for administrative Leave of Absence, and returning student meetings (after medical or administrative Leaves of Absence)
- Assist with triage of students in distress and provide appropriate and timely interventions
- Respond to critical incidents on campus as needed
- Contribute to outreach efforts for the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT), website, and reporting
- Contribute to training for BIT, as well as campus constituents (faculty/staff and student employees) regarding behavioral intervention best practices, suicide prevention, crisis management, and utilization of BIT resources
- Actively work to develop rapport across the institution with faculty, staff, and students to increase visibility of CARE Team and related programs designed to assist and intervene when students need support
- Actively contribute to a culturally inclusive and welcoming educational environment to support and engage all Mines students, faculty, and staff
- Serve on campus committees and special projects, and other duties as assigned
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in psychology, counseling, social work, education, public health or related field
- Demonstrated experience in community support services with a background in triage/crisis intervention
- Familiarity with mental health needs of college students
- High level of teamwork and communication skills with students, parents, colleagues, faculty, staff and community mental health partners
- Teaching, consultation, and collaboration are essential for this role, as is the building of productive working relationships across campus
- Evidence of experience working with diverse identities and needs
- Demonstrated comfort and skill with crisis management, trauma, and multiple levels of severity of student presentation in a high-pressured college environment
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communication skills
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in psychology, counseling, social work, education, public health or related field
