Fleet Logistics Foreman - Eastern Division
Fred Smith Company is looking for a Fleet Logistics Foreman to oversee the efficient operation and coordination of all trucking within our Eastern Division. This key role ensures the smooth movement of materials, maximizes equipment utilization, and supports the Transportation Manager with daily logistics, scheduling, and performance monitoring.

Key Responsibilities- Supervise drivers and crew leaders to ensure safe, efficient, and timely transportation of materials.
- Monitor trucking activities daily using fleet logistics software and tracking transponders to optimize efficiency.
- Collect and analyze trucking data; identify operational inefficiencies and coordinate improvements with project teams.
- Schedule, order, and manage delivery of materials and parts for transportation operations.
- Create and manage daily job entries and geo-fields in logistics software.
- Inspect vehicles, coordinate maintenance, and ensure compliance with DOT, federal, state, and local regulations.
- Foster teamwork, morale, and continuous improvement among drivers and support staff.
- Maintain accurate daily logs and reports for management.
- Build positive relationships with subcontractors, customers, and the general public.
- Education:
Two- or Four-year Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience. - Experience:
3-5 years of Commercial Driver experience with 1-3 years in fleet or logistics operations with exposure to transportation software systems, e.g., Fleet watcher. - A Valid US Driver's License is required; an NC Commercial Driver's License is desired but not required.
- Knowledge:
Understanding of commercial motor vehicle regulations, traffic laws, and motor carrier operations. - Technical
Skills:
Intermediate computer proficiency with the ability to use multiple software programs. - Leadership:
Ability to supervise, motivate, and train team members effectively. - Soft Skills:
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. - Mindset:
Reliable, adaptable, and a can-do attitude with attention to detail and time management.
Physical Requirements
- Moderate physical activity: occasional lifting of up to 60 lbs, climbing in/out of vehicles, prolonged standing and walking.
- Exposure to outdoor conditions including seasonal temperatures, dust, dirt, and equipment noise.
- Requires constant alertness and attention to safety and operational details.
