The substitute secretary provides clerical office support in a school office or department on an on‑call, as‑needed basis.
Essential Functions- Performs a variety of clerical tasks as assigned by the building administrators.
- Provides customer service to students, parents, staff and community including answering phone, greeting and directing visitors, resolving conflict, disseminating information, etc.
- Operates a variety of office equipment.
- Sorts and distributes mail (internal and external).
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
- Prepares and processes various district documents to meet district, state and/or federal regulations.
- Performs data entry, word processing, spreadsheet, and database functions as requested.
- Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

Equipment Uses standard office equipment such as personal computer, copy machine, fax machine, telephone.
Qualification Profile- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Associate’s degree with coursework in business, math, word processing, office procedures and record keeping preferred.
- Works in standard office and school building environments; can work outdoors during student activities.
- Physical activity occasionally (1‑32%), frequently (33‑65%), constantly (66‑100%).
- Bending, talking, hearing, operating computer, stationary position, balancing, lifting up to 20 pounds.
- Occasional district office hours; indoors; evenings and weekends may be required.
