The Dean is responsible for advancing best practices in community college student services, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with applicable policies, regulations, and standards. This position contributes to institutional planning, assessment, and decision-making related to student success.
Constant (67-100%)
* Provides leadership, direction, supervision, and evaluation of assigned Student Services departments and staff.
* Ensures departmental processes, policies, staffing, technology, and resources support institutional and divisional goals.
* Fosters a cohesive and collaborative Student Services team through professional development and cross-training.
* Maintains working knowledge of departmental operations across Student Services.
* Promotes and models a student-centered philosophy aligned with the mission of a comprehensive community college.
Frequent (34-66%)
* Incorporates higher education and community college best practices into departmental operations.
* Supports the use of data and assessment to improve student outcomes.
* Collaborates with departments to track student progress across the student lifecycle.
* Ensures compliance with FERPA and other applicable regulations.
* Collaborates with academic departments, administrative units, and college leadership.
* Participates in college committees and planning initiatives.
* Contributes to enrollment, retention, persistence, and completion efforts.
* Represents the College in meetings related to assigned responsibilities.
Occasional (10-33%)
* Develops and recommends policies and procedures.
* Identifies areas for improvement and leads change initiatives.
* Assesses effectiveness of current strategies.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
* May assume responsibilities of the Vice President of Student Services in their absence.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
* Be able and willing to represent Iowa Central Community college in a positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, clients, suppliers, and the community we serve.
* Be a creative, energetic, self-motivated individual with a positive attitude and demonstrate leadership and organizational skills.
* Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, logically, and coherently, orally and in writing.
* Ability to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption.
* Must be able to get along with diverse personalities.
Master's degree in related field, with three years of progressively responsible leadership experience or an equivalent combinations of education, training, skills, and experience that demonstrates ability to successfully complete the essential functions of this position.
Position involves constant (67-100%) talking or listening to persons over the telephone and in person, sitting, visual activity, repetitive motion while utilizing computer equipment; frequent (34-66%) getting up and down, reaching, standing, and walking; and occasional (10-33%) filing, lifting up to 25 pounds.
