Salary: $85,000-$95,000
All positions assigned 30 or more hours weekly (typically 6 hours daily) are eligible for a full benefits package, including medical, dental and vision insurance and paid leave.
Job Summary: To assist in providing leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills that will promote the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member.
Essential Duties- Assist in the setting of priorities in the context of improving student achievement.
- Assist in articulating and promoting high expectation for teaching and student learning.
- Implement our Leader in Me initiative, MTSS, student management.
- Implement communication strategies to inform stakeholders of progress towards the vision and mission of the district.
- Assist the principal in providing leadership for assessing, developing, and improving school environment and culture.
- Evaluate staff, as assigned, and provide direction for improving instruction.
- Assist in the development and support of professional development of staff to improve student learning.
- Develop and revise, as needed or as directed by supervisor, personal professional development plan for continued improved performance.
- Assist the principal in effectively managing policies and procedures according to the School Board and Code of Iowa.
- Work with various building leadership teams.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills with a variety of stakeholders in the operation of the school.
- Address problems in a timely manner.
- Work to assure the school equipment and support systems operate safely, efficiently, and effectively.
- Assist in the implementation of an effective program of student management and welfare.
- Promote and support parent/student/community involvement in the school.
- Share leadership and decision‑making.
- Connect students and families to the health, human and social services they need to stay focused on learning.
- Demonstrate ethical, trustworthy, and professional behavior.
- Demonstrate values, beliefs, and attitudes that inspire others to higher levels of performance.
- Treat people fairly, equitably, and with dignity and respect.
- Apply policies and procedures in a fair and equitable manner.
- Demonstrate and promote appreciation and respect and sensitivity to the diversity in the school community.
- Serve as an effective spokesperson for the welfare of all members of the learning community.
- Engage in dialogue with other decision‑makers to improve teaching and learning.
- Communicate clearly to the community about building/district issues and performances.
- Provide leadership through assisting in the development of mutual expectations, procedures for working together, and formulating district policies.
- Know and support the building/district school improvement plan and accurately interpret and report progress on goals.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must possess the qualifications and certification set by the Code of Iowa and the Iowa Department of Education in regard to Administrator and Evaluator License.
- Successful teaching experience.
- Demonstrates the ability to assist the principal in leading faculty and staff through first and second order change.
- Demonstrates the ability to assist the principal in modeling, implementing, monitoring and evaluating research‑based instructional strategies.
- Demonstrates the ability to assist the principal in collaborating with faculty, staff, parents and community to provide a quality education for all students, including those from diverse backgrounds and those with special needs.
