Job Title
This is a fulltime position providing services to eligible students of Iowa Central Community College.
Job DescriptionPrimary responsibilities are to assist the SSS Project Director with activities assigned to SSS in accordance with grant requirements, such as assisting students with academic advising, transfer, financial aid information, and educational planning. This person will oversee peer tutors and work study employees as well as the tutoring process. Some evening and weekend work required. Position is contingent on continued grant funding.
ExamplesOf Duties
Constant (67-100%)
- Assist students with all aspects of SSS services in accordance with grant requirements.
- Coordinate the peer tutor program.
- Ensure compliance with all aspects of the Student Support Services grant.
- Assist with evaluation of program services for grant compliance.
- Maintain an assigned load of direct services for participants.
- Schedule, offer, and conduct workshops for SSS participants.
- Assist students with the development of an Education Action Plan.
- Meet with SSS advisees monthly to discuss academic and personal progress.
- Maintain a professional and efficient work space.
Frequent (34-66%)
- Assist with the enrollment of eligible participants into the program.
- Maintain accurate records and reports as required in the Grant and assigned by the Project Director.
- Submit reports and data by established deadlines.
Occasionally (10-33%)
- Work with and coordinate services with the Financial Aid, Admissions, and Student Records Offices and the Academic Resource Center.
- Other duties assigned by the supervisor

Understand the complexities of the broad spectrum of personalities and needs of students and be willing to work consistently and fairly with all.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree in education, human services, psychology, counseling, student services or related field required, although a combination of education and experience may be considered;
Two years experience working in a TRIO or similar program working with similar populations;
Preference given to applicants who reflect project participants: low income, first generation and/or disabled.

Position involves constant (67-100%) talking or listening to persons over the telephone and in person, sitting, visual activity, repetitive motion while utilizing computer equipment; frequent (34-66%) getting up and down, reaching, standing, and walking; and occasional (10-33%) filing, lifting up to 25 pounds.
