TAP Assistant Supervisor

The TAP (Transition Alliance Program) Assistant is responsible for providing skills training and supports to Transition Alliance Program (TAP) participants. This position involves working under the direction of the TAP Coordinator. The TAP Assistant will be responsible for job-site monitoring and implementation of individualized programs developed to meet the needs of TAP participants. This position is designed to assist TAP participants develop the skills needed to be successful in their employment, academic and independent living objectives.

Essential duties include networking with outside resources on a daily basis, organizing sessions for individuals interested in vocational and college planning, scheduling visits at the community college or vocational school for post high-school students, implementing goals and objectives as written in individualized program plans and access to community resources outlined based on identified needs, pursuing accommodations to enable TAP participants to accomplish tasks at work, assisting in the areas on on-the-job training, resume preparation and short-term job coaching provided as needed, providing instruction based on individual need after analyzing medical, education, vocational and other diagnostic information, learning, understanding, communicating and correctly applying federal and state statutes and rules to colleagues, service providers, employers and the general public to ensure that legal and appropriate services are provided, possessing knowledge of service areas specific to each student's interests and aptitudes.

Travel requirements include traveling to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Educational requirements include an associate degree in Human Service, Psychology or Education and at least two years related experience and/or training, preferably in an educational or unionized work setting. Knowledge, skills and abilities include the ability to work without close supervision, knowledge of social, physical and psychological aspects of human behavior, including disabilities and associated functional limitations and accommodations, excellent communication skills, ability to be flexible and work as a member of an interdisciplinary team in an atmosphere of continual change, knowledge of community resources, ability to understand federal/state laws and regulations and District policies and apply them to transition services and programs, ability to engage with and advocate for youth representing a wide range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, ability to interact professionally with individuals from various disciplines, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
