This position will work up to 24.75 hours per week.
Constant (67-100%)
* Provide a uniformed presence for the safety of students, employees and visitors.
* Act as a deterrent to unsafe or poor behavior by providing high visibility throughout campus.
* Walking and surveying hallways, common areas, grounds and parking lots.
* Vehicle patrol surveying common areas, grounds and parking lots.
* Enforce campus policies regarding weapons, tobacco, illegal substances, etc.
* Prepare incident reports, maintain various records related to assigned activities.
Frequent (34-66%)
* Monitor security cameras to oversee the safety and security of students, staff and school assets.
* Investigate and report unusual, suspicious or criminal activities.
Occasional (10-33%)
* Assist local EMS, Fire, and Policy when on campus.
* Report and respond to safety, sanitary, fire hazard and maintenance and repair needs to appropriate authority.
* Assist administrators, staff, students and visitors during crisis situations.
* Provide security escort services as requested.
* Other duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
1. Be able and willing to represent Iowa Central Community College in a positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, clients, suppliers, and the community we serve.
2. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
3. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
4. Understand college policy and be able to enforce college policy in a professional manner in accordance with the overall mission of Iowa Central Community College.
5. Operate college security vehicles in accordance with State Law and college policy.
6. Maintain regular contact with the Director of Housing and Security when enforcing college policy with the student body.
7. Maintain professional contact with local EMS, Fire, and Police personnel.
8. Use proper judgment and discretion when dealing with any emergency on campus.
9. Provide security to the College during non-business hours (including weekend and holidays) as assigned.
High school diploma or the equivalent is required. Prior security/criminal justice experience preferred. Must hold and maintain a valid Iowa Driver license throughout the duration of employment.
Must be 18 years old or older.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
GENERAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH OR WITHOUT A REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:
Position involves constant (67-100%) Walking, driving, climbing, standing; frequent (34-66%) stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, repetitive motions, sitting, writing, lifting up to 25 pounds, exposure to environmental extremes; and occasional (10-33%) running, very brisk walking.
