Iowa Central Community College is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Strength and Conditioning Coach to design, implement, and oversee comprehensive strength, conditioning, and injury-prevention programs for its intercollegiate athletic teams. This position plays a critical role in enhancing athletic performance, promoting athlete safety, and supporting the overall mission of the Iowa Central athletics program.

Constant (67-100%)

* Design, implement, and supervise year-round strength and conditioning programs tailored to the needs of individual teams and student-athletes.

* Conduct performance assessments and use data to monitor progress and adjust training programs accordingly.

* Educate student-athletes on proper lifting techniques, speed and agility mechanics, flexibility, recovery, and nutrition basics.

* Supervise daily strength and conditioning sessions, ensuring a safe and positive training environment.

* Collaborate closely with athletic trainers, sport coaches, and medical staff to support injury prevention, rehabilitation, and return-to-play protocols.

* Maintain strength and conditioning facilities, including equipment upkeep, organization, and cleanliness.

* Ensure compliance with NJCAA, institutional, and conference rules and regulations.

* Assist with the scheduling of team training sessions and coordination of facility usage.

* Promote discipline, accountability, and leadership among student-athletes.

* Perform additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

* Assist with the preparation of the equity in sports report (EAD).

* Assist with the scheduling of the athletic weight room for our athletic programs.

* Assist with athletic facility scheduling

Frequent (34-66%)

* Attend coaches' meetings.

* Assist in the hiring of new head and/or assistant coaches.

Occasional (0-33%)

* Serve on committees assigned.

* Assist in special enrollment days such as the junior and senior visit days.

* Help supervise assigned work study students.

* Other duties as assigned

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

1. Represent Iowa Central Community College in a positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, clients, suppliers, and the community we serve.

2. Full-time, 12 month employment.

3. Some weekend and evening hours required and may be extensive seasonally.

4. May be on call at times.

5. Maintain national certification by continuing education standards set by NSCA-CSCS.

6. Participate in leadership positions/committees at the state, district and national levels.

7. Possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

8. Ability to work within a defined budget.

9. Excellent role model and leader for young people.

10. Willingness to travel.

Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Strength and Conditioning, or a related field.

Current nationally recognized strength and conditioning certification (e.g., NSCA-CSCS, CSCCa-SCCC, or equivalent).

CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).

Demonstrated knowledge of strength training, conditioning, speed, agility, and injury prevention principles.

Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by team schedules.

Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in a related field.

Previous experience working with collegiate or high school athletic programs.

Experience in a community college or NJCAA athletic setting.

Knowledge of sport-specific demands across multiple athletic programs.

GENERAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH OR WITHOUT A REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves constant (67-100%) talking or listening to persons over the phone and in person, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pulling, grasping; frequent (34-66%) ability to work in extreme weather conditions; and occasional (10-33%) lifting up to 80 lbs.
