Position: Cadet Command General Maintenance Worker- Fort Knox, KY.

General Maintenance Worker – Fort Knox, KY

PCSI is looking for a General Maintenance Worker (GMW) at Fort Knox, KY – Site 840. The GMW will make minor adjustments and repairs to plumbing, electrical, waste systems, architectural and structural building components, doors, windows, floor systems, light carpentry, and roof systems, among other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Cadet Command Supervisor and is based at our Fort Knox Kentucky TFM contract.

Typical work hours:
Monday‑Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. Support of CST, CAP and Raider Challenge annual events may require split‑shift, second‑shift, overtime and weekend work.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in minor building maintenance tasks at proficiency, including plumbing, electrical, waste systems, architectural and structural components, doors, windows, floor systems, light carpentry, and roof systems.
  • Clean and maintain mechanical rooms.
  • Perform preventative maintenance: change filters, clean cooling towers, heating and cooling coils, replace fluorescent and other light bulbs.
  • Manufacture, repair, and install screens and glass.
  • Maintain signs: inspections, replacement, painting.
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed.
  • Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Patch walls and ceilings using plaster or compound.
  • Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, toilets.
  • Paint structures and equipment.
  • Repair or replace concrete floors, steps, sidewalk.
  • Replace damaged paneling and floor tiles.
  • Hang doors and install door locks.
  • Replace broken windowpanes.
  • General maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Snow and ice removal operations from May to November, including Saturday, Sunday, holidays or night shift.
  • Roof repairs: minor repairs on shingle, TPO, rock & seam & conventional rib metal roofing, door installation, downspout repairs.
  • Ceiling tile replacement and installation; drywall work; installation of insulation/sound proofing.
  • Wall patching, removal of damaged drywall or wood panels, reinstallation of tiles and finishes.
  • Painting of walls, doors, window casings, ceilings, concrete floors & walls, brick, cinder block, steps and landings, equipment.
  • Windows & glass: installation and replacement of screens, glass, sashes, mullions, seals/gaskets, trim, hinges, locksets, handles, frames, door viewing kits, mirrors, blinds, tinting.
  • Doors: installation, adjustment of hinges, closers, seals, latches; removal of existing doors; installation of new frames; must cover hollow core, solid core, steel, fire‑rated doors.
  • Flooring: replacement of carpeting, tiles, VCT, LVT; installation; base removal; epoxy coating painting; grinding; stair treads; anti‑slip devices.
  • Framing: removal and demolition of existing walls; framing with metal and wood studs; insulation.
  • Masonry: minor repairs to concrete, block, precast; drilling, filling, tuck pointing, caulking, sealant.
  • Drywall: new installation; taping, expansion joints; plaster or drywall compound; sanding.
  • Furnishings: basic knowledge of installation of cabinets, vanities, countertops, back splashes, TV mounts, etc.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least six (6) months of relevant experience.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, kneel, squat, bend, reach.
  • Must lift 50 lbs up to 10 times per day.
  • Must use hand and power tools for installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Must complete all applicable training modules.
  • Must read, write, speak English.
  • Pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
  • Work outside in inclement weather.
  • Work any time, day, weekend, holiday.
  • Valid driver’s license with good record.
  • May need to obtain security clearance and base access.
