Winn Companies is searching for an adaptable and dependable General Maintenance Technician - HVAC Specialist I to join our military housing team located at Fort Knox
, a 2,382 unit military housing community located in Fort Knox, KY
.
In this role, you will perform maintenance functions in the community, including rental units, office buildings, residential areas, grounds, and parking lots. The ideal candidate will also ensure that all service is performed safely and results in favorable customer feedback.
The selected candidate will adhere to a Monday through Friday schedule with rotating on-call duty required as needed. Please note that this position is located at a federal facility. In accordance with the REAL , effective May 7, 2025, a REAL driver's license/ required in order to access the federal facility.
Responsibilities:- Identify, diagnose, repair, and complete advanced troubleshooting to include all components and replacement of HVAC systems and parts.
- Diagnose HVAC issues, such as no heat or no air.
- Understand pressures and system capabilities, including freon.
- Replace commonly-used parts in HVAC systems.
- Assist with replacement of full HVAC systems.
- Respond to service calls related to residential maintenance, such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and appliances.
- Complete service calls/Change of Occupancy Maintenance work.
- Complete repairs as directed by immediate supervisor or other organization management representatives.
- Transport, install, and connect stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, and other electrical and gas appliances.
- Transport equipment, furnishings, and appliances to job sites, load and unload trucks.
- Respond to and complete on-call after hours emergency and urgent repairs.
- Operate power tools and power equipment.
- Update work order status, including time, materials, and notes on mobile devices provided.
- Keep supervisor well-informed of activities, results, and potential problems, while recommending corrective actions to supervisor.
- Work cooperatively and conduct oneself professionally when in contact with customers, staff, contractors, and the public.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Less than 1 year of relevant work experience in residential maintenance.
- Current HVAC license (EPA Certification).
- Proficiency in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, flooring, or appliances.
- Ability to provide basic tools and equipment necessary to perform daily duties.
- Basic familiarity with computers and web-based applications.
- Ability to read and write in English, in order to understand basic instructions and take direction from supervisors.
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work.

- 1-3 years of HVAC experience.
- Vocational or technical training.
