Salary Range: $31.53 To $31.53 Annually
Position Summary
The Small Arms Repairer inspects, maintains, and repairs all types of small arms. Determines general condition of the weapons, the nature of the malfunction, and repairs as required to ensure proper tolerance and function.
Essential Functions of the Position- Test, recondition, troubleshoot, and repair all assigned small arms including fully automatic machine guns and related equipment, and crew serve weapons.
- Uses technical manuals, parts lists, Modification Work Orders, Maintenance Bulletins, TACOM Messages, etc. to determine trouble. Repairs or replaces defective parts as directed.
- Perform operations checks by using technical manuals and other applicable regulations.
- Coordinates with the advises lead repairer on maintenance status, equipment requirements, problem areas and corrective action.
- Possesses a thorough knowledge of the assembling, disassembling, and functioning of small arms.
- Possesses knowledge of the safety measures and performance standards of small arms.
- Possesses knowledge of a variety of small tools, calibrated gauges, and spare parts required to correct the malfunction of equipment and be able to generate work orders.
- Replace the components such as barrels, springs, triggers, shell ejectors, bolts, safety devices, etc. to rectify the defect.
- Performs quality inspection and assurance tests on the weapons.
- Make repairs to the different varieties of small arms such as rifles, pistols, carbines, mounts, and shotguns, etc.
- Dissembles the weapons to locate the misalignment or malfunctioning of the components of small weapons.
- Inspects the functioning of the small arms to ensure they provide safe, effective, and accurate operations.
- Performs inventories on parts and weapons.
- This position supports the DoD on federal installation, and the candidate must be available to work at the assigned physical location during business hours 7:30AM - 4:30PM (M-F)
- Works on concrete floors and in drafty areas. Requires walking, bending and long periods of standing. May be exposed to fumes, fluids, dirt, resulting in bruises, cuts, burns, and skin irritation. Work will require lifting or moving at least 50lbs. Preform repetitive tasks throughout the day.
- Wearing of protective wear and other safety equipment is required during all periods of exposure to hazardous conditions.
- This position is not eligible for remote work, as the essential functions of the role require the employee to perform duties on-site. May be exposed to inclement / extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may vary from moderate to high, depending on location. Job will require working flexible hours, sometimes under short notice, to accommodate for mission requirements to include weekends and holidays, overtime may be required.
- Must possess and present a valid state Real I.D. Driver's License.
- Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to speak, write, read, understand English, and follow written/verbal directions.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a self-starter; able to work as a team or independently, with limited supervision.
- Must be proficient in the use of computers and MS Office Software.
- Minimum of three years' experience in weapons maintenance and repair, including semi-automatic, automatic, and burst capable weapons.
- Related weapons maintenance and repair formal training may be substituted for up to two years of experience.
- Employee must complete timesheets daily, ensuring accurate data, both manually and via required
system.
- Must submit to and pass random drug and/or alcohol testing.
- Must perform other duties in accordance with requirements as directed.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work and be able to access military installations.
- Must record your actual work hours daily and be sure your entries are accurate and timely to support smooth operations.
- Must arrive on time and dress IAW RRST dress code.
- Must have the ability to read, comprehend and explain instructions, letters, memos, emails, and correspondence from inside the organization as well as from external sources.
- Must have the ability to effectively respond, communicate and present information to customers, internal and external, clients and other employees in the organization.
- Must have the ability to interpret instructions and information and explain to others in the
performance of this job in English.
