The Director of Accounting will lead the company’s accounting function and financial reporting operations within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing general ledger activities, cost accounting, inventory valuation, and internal controls while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience, deep manufacturing accounting expertise, and a strategic mindset to support operational excellence and scalable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the accounting team, including month-end and year-end close processes and staff development.
  • Oversee cost accounting functions including standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, overhead absorption, and bill of materials accuracy.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies in a SOX-compliant or audit-ready environment.
  • Partner with operations, supply chain, and production leadership to analyze manufacturing performance and drive cost efficiencies.
  • Manage external audits, tax filings, and coordination with external advisors.
  • Oversee fixed assets, capital expenditures, depreciation, and inventory controls.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives in collaboration with FP&A and operations teams.
  • Lead ERP optimization and systems implementations related to manufacturing and accounting processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a United States-accredited university required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cost accounting, inventory management, and production variance analysis.
  • Prior leadership or people-management experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
  • Experience working with ERP systems in a manufacturing setting (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, Dynamics, Epicor).
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with reporting and analytics tools preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in private equity–backed or high-growth organizations.
