Senior Accountant

Vaco is hiring a SR Accountant

Location:
Ft Lauderdale, FL

Compensation: $75-$90/annually

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Accountant with a strong background in accounting and an understanding of the construction accounting practices, month end close, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting who will support the overall financial health of the company by adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

• Preparing and reviewing financial documents, reports, and statements in compliance with GAAP and construction industry standards.
• Oversee and ensure the accuracy of monthly and quarterly financial closing processes.
• Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow to ensure liquidity for ongoing construction operations.
• Review and ensure the accuracy of journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activities.
• Assist with the preparation of tax filings, sales & use tax returns for multi-state.
• Provide senior management with regular financial reports to support strategic decision-making.
• Coordinate with external auditors and prepare necessary documentation for multiple audit requests (ex: W/C, Union, Year-end).
• Collaborate with other departments, including property management, to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting.
• Stay up to date with changes in accounting regulations, industry standards, and construction tax laws.
• Additional projects as required.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• Minimum 4 years of accounting experience with a focus in the construction industry
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), construction accounting principles, and familiarity with construction industry standards and practices (Union)
• Proficiency in accounting software applications, with the ability to adapt to new technologies quickly. Viewpoint Vista, Microsoft Excel, and other financial analysis tools preferred
• Experience with Sales & Use tax, audit, and Union Benefits Payroll reconciliation a HUGE plus
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy; ability to collaborate effectively with team members, project managers, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
