Position OverviewThe Billing Specialist ensures accurate billing, maintains financial records, and supports the accounting team. This role is critical for timely invoicing and resolving discrepancies.
Responsibilities Of The Billing Specialist- Compile, compute, and record billing, accounting, and statistical data for billing purposes.
- Prepare itemized statements, bills, or invoices for services rendered or goods delivered.
- Verify the accuracy of billing data and revise errors.
- Resolve discrepancies in accounting records.
- Operate billing machines and related equipment.
- Keep records of invoices and supporting documents.
- Perform bookkeeping tasks, including posting data and maintaining cost records.
- Contact customers to relay account information.
- Route statements for mailing or delivery.
- Review documents to compute fees or charges due.
- Track accumulated hours and dollar amounts charged to each client job.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with billing and accounting software.
- Ability to resolve discrepancies and revise errors.
- Effective communication skills for customer contact.
- Experience in bookkeeping and maintaining financial records.
- Ability to operate billing machines and office equipment.
- Organizational skills for managing multiple tasks.
- Prior experience in billing or accounting roles.
- Familiarity with industry-specific billing processes.
- Experience with professional services billing.
- Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Associate's degree is required.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred.
