SENIOR ACCOUNTANT Job Description
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for various corporate accounting tasks and controls. This position plays an integral role in ensuring external and intercompany transactions are evaluated and accounted for properly. This includes preparation of journals and balance sheet reconciliations. The Senior Accountant works closely with the Corporate Controller and other corporate departments to facilitate a timely and efficient financial statement close process, assists with maintenance of system-generated reports and provides technical accounting expertise.
Roles And Responsibilities- Support the Company’s month end close process, including journal entries and monthly account reconciliations
- Analyze financial performance and investigate variances
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP in the execution of assigned accounting areas
- Support special projects that impact assigned responsibilities, such as system implementations, acquisitions, divestitures, etc.
- Reconcile intercompany balances monthly. Work with subsidiary accountants to ensure intercompany transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Research technical accounting and financial reporting guidance as needed
- Provide ad hoc accounting/analysis to other functional areas in connection with assigned areas
- Identify and implement process improvements as continuous improvement
- Support external audits and provide documentation as necessary
- Minimum of 3-4 years in public accounting, auditing, consulting, or equivalent experience
- Fundamental financial, statistical, and analytical capabilities
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and complex formulas required
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Demonstrated self-starter, with strong organizational skills, able to work independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Critical thinking capacity, with the ability to think high-level yet execute at the detail level
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, manage multiple projects simultaneously and manage competing priorities
- Public accounting plus industry experience is ideal; multinational exposure a plus
- Proficiency with Netsuite a plus
