Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a construction and contractor-focused organization in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This Contract position is ideal for someone who is comfortable handling a fast-paced invoice workflow, maintaining strong vendor relationships, and supporting day-to-day payment operations with accuracy and efficiency. The role offers an opportunity to contribute to a busy accounting function while helping keep payable processes organized and on schedule.

Responsibilities:

- Process a large volume of invoices accurately and in a timely manner while following established payment procedures.

- Review billing documentation, verify details, and resolve discrepancies before submitting items for payment.

- Communicate with vendors to address account questions, payment status updates, and invoice-related concerns.

- Maintain organized accounts payable records to support reporting, audits, and internal documentation needs.

- Coordinate with internal departments to confirm approvals, coding, and supporting information for invoices.

- Monitor outstanding payables and help ensure scheduled payments are completed according to agreed terms.

- Assist with activities related to the company transition from one organization structure or platform to another as needed within the accounts payable function. Requirements - At least 1 year of experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.

- Practical experience handling high-volume invoicing in a fast-moving work environment.

- Working knowledge of vendor account maintenance and vendor communication best practices.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors and follow through on corrections.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and stay organized throughout the payment cycle.

- Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with vendors and internal teams.

- Experience in construction, contractor, or similar industry settings is helpful.
