A well-established general contractor with over four decades of experience in Florida is expanding its preconstruction team. The firm has built a strong statewide reputation delivering high-impact projects across public and institutional markets.
The organization specializes in K–12 education, higher education, civic and municipal facilities, senior living, and public safety buildings. Currently, K–12 work represents the largest and fastest-growing segment of the portfolio, with consistent success in winning competitive public bids.
Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, the company is hiring two experienced Preconstruction Managers to support expanding operations across Florida.
Position OverviewThe Preconstruction Manager will lead the front-end planning and estimating process for public and institutional construction projects. This individual will play a key role in budgeting, cost modeling, constructability analysis, and subcontractor engagement from early design through GMP development.
This role requires strong experience in public-sector procurement, particularly within K–12 school construction.
Key Responsibilities- Lead preconstruction efforts from conceptual budgeting through GMP submission
- Coordinate closely with design teams to provide value engineering and constructability input
- Manage subcontractor outreach, scope review, and bid leveling
- Prepare bid packages and support proposal development for public pursuits
- Participate in client presentations and assist with interview preparation
- Identify cost risks and develop mitigation strategies early in the process
- Work collaboratively with operations teams to ensure seamless transition from preconstruction to project execution
- Support schedule development and logistics planning during early phases
- 7–15+ years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or project management with a reputable general contractor
- Strong experience with public-sector construction projects
- Direct exposure to K–12 school construction (highly preferred)
- Familiarity with Florida building codes, procurement processes, and school district requirements
- Experience with CMAR and/or Design-Build delivery methods
- Strong subcontractor relationships within the Florida market
- Proficiency in estimating software and cost modeling tools
- Ability to manage multiple pursuits simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
