Senior Estimator – DPR Construction

We are seeking a senior estimator with at least 8 years of commercial construction experience to prepare detailed cost estimates for negotiated commercial projects in core markets including healthcare, advanced technology, higher education, life sciences, and corporate office.

• Handle the project from first estimate through formalized subcontracts.
• Look beyond available information, ask the right questions, and provide complete project cost evaluations.
• Advocate for customers, empowering and informing them throughout the project.
• Provide innovative solutions to complex cost, lead-time, and material issues.
• Make reliable cost predictions and estimate across all scopes of work.
• Prepare detailed conceptual cost estimates and studies from schematic or feasibility-level documentation.
• Develop variance summaries between estimates and value engineering studies as designs evolve.
• Assemble complete presentation-worthy estimate packages that clearly communicate project cost.
• Collaborate with the project team to establish staffing and project requirements.
• Understand unit costs and the factors that affect construction cost.
• Prepare detailed instructions to bidders, trade-specific clarifications, and comprehensive bid packages.
• Manage the bidding process: solicit bids, communicate with bidders, evaluate proposals, use bid tally sheets.
• Recommend subcontractor awards to the customer/owner and negotiate final subcontracts with trade partners.
• Lead the preparation and presentation of cost/budget information to the customer/owner.
• Participate in request for proposal responses (RFPs) and formal project presentation.
• Engage and develop business with new and existing customers.
• Lead and facilitate value engineering sessions with the project and design teams.
• Review construction contracts and identify key insurance and damage clauses.
• Lead, manage, and motivate project teams during the preconstruction phase.

• 8+ years of experience as a commercial construction estimator, preferably within DPR’s core markets.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, estimating software (Win Est, Timberline, or similar), take‑off software (On‑Screen Takeoff or similar), BIM tools (Revit, Assemble, etc.), project management software (CMiC or similar), and scheduling software (Primavera or similar).
• Excellent listening, communication, and creative problem‑solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to identify, adapt to, and resolve complex issues.
• Effective participation in a team environment with both internal and external teammates.
• Can‑do attitude and strong work ethic.
• Bachelor’s degree a plus, but not required.
