Position SummaryThe Senior Estimating Manager is responsible for leading the team that develops accurate, competitive estimates for utility-scale solar and energy projects. The role is accountable for estimate quality, team performance, and cross-functional collaboration throughout the preconstruction lifecycle. Although the position directly manages the Civil Estimating team, candidates are not required to have an exclusively civil estimating background. The successful candidate will possess broad renewable energy estimating experience, demonstrated leadership capabilities, and a strong understanding of how civil scope integrates with engineering, procurement, construction, and project execution.

- Leads and develops estimating professionals across multiple experience levels.
- Establishes performance expectations and fosters a high-performing team culture.
- Coaches and mentors team members while supporting professional development and continuous improvement.
- Oversees performance management, recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and succession planning.
- Manages team resource allocation to meet bid schedules and business priorities.
- Participates as a member of the estimating leadership team, contributing to operational strategy and execution.
- Provides leadership and oversight for estimate development on utility-scale solar and energy projects, with primary responsibility for civil estimating outcomes.
- Collaborates with operations teams on subcontractor strategies and project execution planning.
- Leads estimate reviews and facilitates identification and mitigation of project risks and opportunities.
- Reviews pricing strategies, assumptions, qualifications, alternates, and basis-of-bid decisions.
- Validates project schedules, identifies conflicts, and escalates issues that may impact bid quality or timing.
- Supports bid positioning and scope development strategies.
- Oversees civil estimating activities throughout the bid lifecycle, including: RFP review

- Bid summaries and turnover documentation
- Ensures timely, accurate responses to RFIs.
- Reviews bid documentation and meeting summaries for completeness and accuracy.
- Drives continuous improvement by incorporating lessons learned into standard processes, templates, and training materials.
- Maintains strategic relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
- Guides subcontractor pricing strategies, sequencing, scheduling assumptions, and self-perform evaluations in collaboration with Operations.
- Supports key negotiations and issue resolution to maintain competitive bids.
- Serves as a stakeholder in estimating systems modernization initiatives.
- Supports implementation and adoption of new estimating tools and workflows.
- Leads the estimating team through process improvements and technology enhancements.
- Demonstrated experience leading estimating, preconstruction, or project teams while developing technical talent.
- Strong estimating experience on utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects within an EPC contractor, general contractor, or developer environment.
- Thorough understanding of civil estimating for renewable energy projects, including earthwork, site development, roads, drainage, foundations, underground utilities, erosion control, logistics, productivity, and sequencing.
- Ability to evaluate civil scope, project risks, pricing strategies, and estimating assumptions.
- Experience with subcontractor procurement, bid analysis, estimate development, and risk management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience with estimating software, quantity takeoff tools, spreadsheets, and document management platforms. Experience with enterprise estimating software is preferred.
- Approximately seven or more years of experience in estimating, preconstruction, project management, or a related construction discipline.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Willingness to travel as needed to support project pursuits and team collaboration.
