Head of Construction - Value Real Estate Investment Platform

We are partnering with a well-capitalized real estate investment platform focused on opportunistic and value-add investments across the U.S. The firm invests across a mix of residential and operational real estate sectors, including multifamily, student housing, self-storage, small-bay industrial and other niche asset classes.

Since launching, the platform has executed 100+ investments representing over $3B in capitalization and continues to actively deploy capital across a growing portfolio. The team partners with top-tier operators and developers while also managing significant renovation and development initiatives across its assets.

As the platform continues to expand, they are looking to bring on a Head of Construction to oversee construction strategy and execution across the portfolio.

This person will act as the internal construction lead, working closely with the investment team on both acquisitions and active projects. The role will focus primarily on renovation and repositioning of existing assets, while also supporting development opportunities where relevant.

You'll be responsible for evaluating construction risk during acquisitions, overseeing project execution, and ensuring projects stay on schedule and on budget.

This is a highly visible role within the business and will work directly with investment, asset management, and external operating partners.

• Lead construction due diligence during acquisitions, including scope review, budgets, and timelines
• Identify capex requirements and potential construction risks that could impact the investment strategy
• Oversee renovation and repositioning projects across the portfolio
• Manage and coordinate third-party developers, owner's reps, contractors, and consultants
• Track construction budgets, schedules, and change orders across multiple projects and markets
• Work closely with the investment team to ensure projects remain aligned with the underwritten business plan
• Provide regular project updates to internal stakeholders and leadership
• Implement consistent project tracking and reporting across the portfolio
• Assist in value engineering and cost optimization where appropriate

• 12-20+ years of construction/project management experience
• Background working for a developer, owner, or owner's rep platform
• Strong experience overseeing renovations and capital improvement programs
• Experience across multifamily, student housing, self-storage, or similar asset classes
• Ability to manage multiple projects across different markets simultaneously
• Strong understanding of construction budgeting, scheduling, and contractor management
• Comfortable working in a lean, entrepreneurial investment environment
• Highly collaborative role working directly with investment and asset management teams
