Job Overview
The Museum of Discovery & Science seeks engaging and enthusiastic Summer Camp Teachers to supervise and instruct campers (grades K‑4). Camps are offered weekly throughout the summer with new themes each week. Topics are fun, age‑appropriate, and exciting for youth while being rooted in STEAM learning. Experiences and programs take place in the museum exhibit halls, classroom settings, outdoors in our Science Park, and limited off‑site field trips.
Educators should be caring, compassionate, and experienced guides, focused on creating fun, joyful experiences for young people. Candidates must enjoy working with youth ages 5‑11, possess a keen interest in science, and be committed to ongoing growth and learning in the fields of science and education. Camp Educator will be fully trained prior to the start of camp, including paid virtual and on‑site training (may include evenings and weekends).
- Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in life science, earth science, astronomy, engineering, or physical science. Equivalent professional experience is required. - Background in life science, earth science, astronomy, engineering, or physical science is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience teaching and/or working with children; experience in inquiry‑based and/or experiential learning settings is a plus.
- Experience leading or assisting programming at a science and/or nature camp is preferred.
- Comfort with performance and/or public speaking, flair for public presentation, strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to multi‑task and manage time efficiently.
- Creative individual with ability to work independently and as part of a team, enjoy working in a fast‑paced environment, be flexible and highly dependable.
- Interest in and/or experience working with diverse audiences.
- Ability to navigate the building and grounds under any weather conditions, move program equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs.
- Work in a highly sensory and stimulating environment due to constant interaction with guests.
- Pass level II background checks according to Museum of Discovery & Science guidelines.
- First Aid, CPR & AED certified (preferred).

CompensationWage starts at $22.00 / Hour.
