St. Jerome Catholic School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is looking for a full-time Guidance Counselor/ Student Services Director for to assist students with personal, family, educational, and emotional issues and to collaborate with the administration, faculty, staff, and parents to address the students’ needs. This person will also be responsible for student activities, testing, and the ESE program. The candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Schedule: Monday
- Friday, 7:20 to 3:20 P.M., including nights and weekends as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of information learned in this position as well as deal tactfully with students, personnel, family members, visitors, and the public.
- Collaborate with administration, teachers, parents, and students.
- Analyze and complete psychological-educational student evaluations.
- Exercise prudence when circumstances warrant making independent decisions.
- Oversee the ESE program by assisting ESE students and their teachers with strategies that facilitate learning for students with learning disabilities.
- Facilitate school testing for both ESE screens and standardized tests, acting as coordinator.
- Willingness to take on extracurricular duties as requested by the principal.
- Have a creative means of promoting the school and has the ability to work outside the school for events that would promote the school.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in Guidance Counseling, Education, or related field required.
- FDOE Certification in K-12 Guidance Counseling, ESE, or related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement the ESE program.
- Competency in analyzing/ completing psychological-educational student evaluations.
- Good time management, including ability to manage several projects at the same time and to meet multiple deadlines with accuracy.
- Ready and capable to deal tactfully with students, personnel, family members, visitors, and the public.
- Collaborative work style in relationship to administration, teachers, parents, and students.
- Exercise prudence in making decisions in warranted circumstances.
- Able to maintain confidentiality of information learned in this position.
- Strong presentation skills with use of instructional technologies.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
- Supportive and respectful of the missions and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church.
