Sagemont Preparatory School is seeking qualified candidates for a College Counselor position with a flexible start date from an immediate opening to July 2026.

The Role:
The College Counselor is responsible for enthusiastically supporting students' academic, college-career, and social-emotional development through a collaborative partnership with students, parents, and Sagemont Prep faculty and staff. A successful candidate will have wide exposure and experience in best practices for college and school counseling, proficiency in building strong relationships, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to balance the needs of the individual with the needs of the organization.
Job Duties:
- Write meaningful and effective letters of recommendation for student applications as needed and requested.
- Plan and coordinate the annual on-campus College Fair for students, as well as individual college visits to campus.
- Facilitate college visits for the select student population to local campuses.
- Lead in-person and virtual events and activities that focus on supporting students' academic, college-career, and social-emotional development.
- Facilitate workshops and trainings for students and families to provide the most timely information on college admissions.
- Support individual student academic and college/career needs through regular one-on-one meetings.
- Engage in ongoing professional development (internal and external), practice self-assessment, and strive for continuous improvement.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and staff.
- Working alongside our Dean of Academic Success to help ensure that students are meeting academic standards and requirements for grade level promotion, graduation, and college acceptance.
- Monitor student progress in accordance with Sagemont Prep’s policies and expectations.
- As a member of the student support team, supervisory duties will be assigned.
- Provide ongoing support to ensure each student reaches their individual post-secondary goals. Support varies from student to student and may involve career exploration, college list development, identification of opportunities related to the student's pathway of interest, etc.
- Communicate proactively and responsively with students, parents, teachers, staff, and administrators via email, phone, video conference, and any other communication tools provided by Sagemont Prep.
