Position: Financial Aid Counselor I (Main Campus) - 994087

Primary Purpose

Provides financial aid advice to students and families, interviews applicants to determine eligibility for loans, grants, scholarships, and ensures compliance with federal, state and institutional guidelines.

Essential Job Functions
  • Review student accounts for completion, accuracy, and adjustments.
  • Provide counseling and advisement on financial aid, registration, student accounts, recruitment, admissions, and transfer credits.
  • Conduct financial aid presentations and workshops for prospective and current students, both in-person and by tele/video, including evenings and weekends.
  • Perform financial aid duties to maintain students' eligibility.
  • Liaise with undergraduate/graduate admissions, housing, residential life, and other units on financial aid matters.
  • Communicate directly with academic units regarding registration issues for students requesting financial aid.
  • Attend and participate in financial aid workshops and meetings.
  • Participate in the annual undergraduate student housing initiative, providing one-on-one counseling to First Time‑In‑College students and parents.
  • Access federal, state, and private platforms to review and report student information.
  • Work evenings and weekends as requested.
  • Complete other projects as required.

    • Clerical – thorough knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
    • Customer and Personal Service – working knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, needs assessment, quality standards, and user satisfaction evaluation.
    • General knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
