Donna Klein Jewish Academy (DKJA) is one of the nation’s premier K–12 Jewish community day schools. Position Summary

DKJA seeks an enthusiastic, skilled, and mission-driven Robotics & Engineering Teacher to help shape the next generation of engineers, innovators, and problem-solvers. This is a unique opportunity to teach across the Middle and High School divisions delivering a vertically aligned, project-based curriculum that introduces foundational engineering concepts in the lower grades and advances to sophisticated robotics, programming, computer-aided design (CAD), and systems engineering by high school.

Beyond the classroom, this educator will coach competitive robotics and drone teams, and collaborate closely with STEM colleagues to build a program that is nationally recognized and uniquely DKJA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach hands‑on, project‑based courses grounded in the Engineering Design Process and Design Thinking, integrating programming, electronics, fabrication, and systems thinking.
  • Introduce middle school students to foundational concepts through platforms such as LEGO Education SPIKE Prime and VEX IQ, progressing to advanced VEX V5, Arduino, and Python/C++ programming at the high school level.
  • Incorporate CAD tools (e.g., Tinkercad, Fusion 360, Sketch Up) and digital fabrication techniques including 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC machining.
  • Connect engineering content to real‑world applications and invite students to design solutions to authentic community challenges.
  • Integrate computational thinking and introductory coding throughout the curriculum.
  • Manage equipment including 3D printers, laser cutters, soldering stations, hand tools, electronics components, and other fabrication technology.
  • Establish and enforce rigorous safety protocols; provide tool certification training to students and staff.
Competitive Robotics & Extracurricular Programs
  • Coach and mentor DKJA’s robotics team(s) (e.g., FIRST LEGO League, VEX Robotics Competition, or similar).
  • Organize and oversee after‑school robotics clubs, drone club team, STEM enrichment activities, and participation in regional and national competitions.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Technology Education, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching or mentoring students in robotics, engineering, or a related STEM discipline (K–12 classroom experience strongly preferred).
  • Proficiency with robotics platforms (e.g., VEX, LEGO Education, Arduino) and programming languages appropriate for K–12 instruction (e.g., Python, Scratch, block‑based coding).
  • Hands‑on experience with digital fabrication tools, including 3D printers, laser cutters, and CAD software.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a safe, inclusive, and high‑expectation learning environment.
  • A genuine passion for working with young people and a commitment to student‑centered, project‑based pedagogy.
Preferred
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Education, or a related field.
  • Florida state teaching certification in Engineering, Technology Education, or Computer Science (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Active involvement in professional organizations such as ITEEA, NSTA, IEEE, or similar.

This is a full‑time, 10‑month faculty position following the DKJA academic calendar. Regular after‑school hours are required for robotics coaching, club supervision, and lab access. Occasional Sunday commitments for competitions, school events, and professional development occur throughout the year.
