Position Overview
To create and maintain a classroom atmosphere that generates high expectations and enthusiasm for learning by infusing critical thinking skills, application skills, interpersonal skills, and technology into an aligned curriculum and assessment process, resulting in measurable student achievement gains for all students in order to meet district and state standards.
Location and ScheduleWork Location:
DILLARD 6-12, City: FT LAUDERDALE. Work Calendar: 196-day calendar.
- Use assessment strategies (traditional and alternative) aligned with curriculum and standards to assist in continuous development of the learner.
- Use effective communication techniques with students, parents, and all other stakeholders.
- Engage in planned continuous professional quality improvement for self and school.
- Use appropriate techniques and strategies that promote critical, creative, and evaluating thinking capabilities of students.
- Use instructional strategies and materials that reflect each student's culture, learning styles, special needs, and socio-economic background.
- Fulfill the terms of any written contract and adhere to code of ethics and principles of professional conduct and assist in enforcement of all federal, state and district board regulations.
- Use an understanding of learning and human development to provide a positive learning environment that supports intellectual, personal, and social development of all students.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the subject matter.
- Establish a classroom management system that maintains appropriate discipline and creates a positive learning environment where students are actively engaged, share social interaction, cooperative learning, and self-motivation.
- Plan, align, implement, and evaluate effective instruction and assessment in various learning environments.
- Work with peers, parents, community, and other stakeholders in the continuous improvement of the educational experiences of students.
- Integrate appropriate technology into teaching and learning processes.
- Complete training and obtain endorsement required for assigned Limited English Proficient (LEP) students.
- Keep school records and prepare and submit reports as required by law, regulations of State Board or School District.
- Account for all school property and report to principal or superintendent as prescribed by regulations.
- Perform and promote activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies.
- Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
- Appropriate State of Florida certification.
- Computer skills as required for the position.
- Bilingual skills preferred.
