Part-Time Teaching Position In American Sign Language

ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will:
- Demonstrate a mastery of their specific discipline; a deep commitment to the college mission of fostering student success, academic achievement, and persistence; technological competence; and the ability to use skills and strategies that engage students in ways that facilitate learning and prepare students for productive lives.
- Employ teaching methods to accommodate various levels of academic preparation and incorporate appropriate and engaging technology across different modalities of instruction to facilitate student learning.
- Facilitate the needs of different learners across programs by implementing responsive pedagogical techniques and effective practices for engaging students.
- Have a willingness to examine and adapt one's instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support students.
- Engage in student consultation, course preparation, review of course outlines, and preparation of course syllabi.
- Provide prompt and constructive support to students through regular office hours and timely feedback on assessments and activities.
- Provide prompt feedback to student emails.
- Adhere to all reporting deadlines such as grade processing, enrollment verification, syllabus submission, and textbook adoption.

Minimum Education:
- Master's degree in American Sign Language or Education for the Hearing Impaired with fluency in the use of American Sign Language
- OR
- Master's Degree and 18 graduate credit hours in American Sign Language or Education for the Hearing Impaired with fluency in the use of American Sign Language
- OR
- Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language, Sign Language Interpreting, or Education of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing with fluency in the use of American Sign Language plus National Certification in Sign Language Interpreting (as recognized under the Registry of the Interpreters for the Deaf RID), or American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) Certification and demonstrated competency in teaching.
- Ph.D. preferred.
Minimum Experience/Training:
- Prior college teaching experience is preferred.
- The successful candidate must have a high level of computer literacy and a commitment to teaching.
- All schedules require office hours and some may require evening and/or weekend hours.
