Overview

We are seeking an experienced Traffic Design Engineer to support our Southeast Region, based in Miami or Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have, at minimum, a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare technical reports for traffic impact studies, interchange access requests, or safety studies.
  • Manage the development of traffic impact studies, land use planning, master plan studies, traffic signal warrant studies, bikeway planning and design, community and campus planning, and technical report writing.
  • Design traffic signal plans for new intersections and modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodations.
  • Develop temporary traffic control plans (TMP), signing, and pavement marking plans.
  • Prepare Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) design plans.
  • Assist in conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings, and engineering reports.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers.
  • Participate in client meetings and manage project budgets to meet financial goals.
  • Engage in business development activities.
  • Required Skills and Experience
  • BS in Civil Engineering.
  • 3-6 years of traffic engineering experience.
  • FL PE license is required; PTOE is preferred.
  • Membership in transportation industry organizations (e.g., WTS, ASCE, ITE) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of transportation planning, DOT standards, MUTCD, and AASHTO.
  • Proficiency in Micro Station, AutoCAD (Open Roads/InRoads preferred), and traffic analysis software (VISSIM, Synchro/Simtraffic, Sidra, HCS).
  • Effective communication skills, self-motivated, and capable of working with minimal oversight.
  • Willingness to develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and possess a valid driver’s license with a clean MVR.
