The Hardware Test Engineer is responsible for validating electronic hardware designs from early prototype through production release. This role develops and executes structured test strategies to ensure products meet functional, performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate brings strong hands‑on lab experience, analytical problem‑solving skills, and a disciplined approach to documentation and root‑cause analysis.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for PCB assemblies, subsystems, and fully integrated electronic products.
- Design, build, and maintain hardware test setups, fixtures, and supporting test equipment.
- Perform functional, electrical, performance, stress, and environmental testing.
- Debug and troubleshoot hardware failures at the component, board, and system levels.
- Review schematics, PCB layouts, and design changes to improve testability and reliability.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts and tools to improve coverage, repeatability, and efficiency.
- Document test procedures, results, failure analysis findings, and corrective actions.
- Support design verification (DVT), production validation (PVT), and manufacturing bring‑up activities.
- Assist with regulatory, safety, and compliance testing (EMC/EMI, ESD, thermal, safety).
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience testing electronic hardware in a development or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuits, embedded hardware, and power systems.
- Proficiency with laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, and DMMs.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, PCB layouts, and component datasheets.
- Hands‑on experience with hardware debugging and structured root‑cause analysis.
- Experience producing clear, technically accurate test documentation.
- Experience with test automation using Python, shell/command‑line scripting, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with embedded systems and communication protocols such as I²C, SPI, UART, USB, and Ethernet.
- Experience developing manufacturing test solutions and supporting production environments.
- Knowledge of reliability and environmental testing methodologies.
- Exposure to regulatory standards such as FCC, CE, UL, or IEC.
