Description
Join the Town of Davie as the next leader of our Utilities Department, a role where you will make a meaningful impact on community infrastructure, public health, and sustainable resource management.
ResponsibilitiesAs Utilities Director, you’ll steer the full spectrum of water and wastewater operations—including water resources, treatment, distribution, wastewater collection, reclaimed water systems, and other key utilities support functions. You will lead a dynamic team, shape strategic planning and technical operations, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while fostering innovation and excellence.

- Health Insurance: 100% paid by the Town for single coverage; 50% paid for dependents.
- Schedule:
Four‑day work week, 10‑hour days Monday‑Thursday either 7:00 am – 5:30 pm or 7:30 am – 6:00 pm. - Phone Stipend: $50/month.
- Car Allowance: $400/month.
- Leave:
Holidays – 13 days per year;
Executive Leave – 112 hours per year;
Sick Leave – 3.69 hours accrued per pay period;
Vacation Leave – accrue 2 weeks per year (rate increases every 5 years, capped at 4 weeks after 10 years);
Birthday Leave – 1 day per year after probation;
Quality Service – 1 day per year after probation and conditions;
Wellness Days – 2 days per year after probation. - Pension/Retirement:
Town Sponsored Pension – mandatory 3% contributions; 457 Deferred Compensation Plan – voluntary contributions permitted. - Longevity Bonus: 7–9 years – $1,000/year; 10+ years – $2,000/year.
- Student Loan Forgiveness Program:
Eligibility under the U.S. Department of Education’s Public Service Loan Forgiveness program (detail at (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).). - Relocation assistance may be provided to qualified candidates.
- Bachelor's Degree in civil, chemical, mechanical, chemical, business, public administration, or a related engineering field.
- At least seven (7) years of progressive professional or administrative experience in municipal utilities operations, including construction and maintenance of water, wastewater, and reclaimed water systems; three (3) of these years must be in a managerial role.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a thorough background check.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida.
- Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
- Extensive knowledge of modern principles and practices for operation, maintenance, expansion, and construction of water, wastewater, and reclaimed water treatment facilities and associated distribution and collection systems.
- Ability to evaluate plans and designs for physical facilities related to water, wastewater, and reclaimed water treatment systems.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing water supply, sanitary sewer systems, environmental health, and operation and maintenance of municipal public waterworks.
- Knowledge of factors involved in providing new or modified water/wastewater service to prospective residential and commercial customers.
- Knowledge of implementation and operation of advanced metering infrastructure systems, utilities rate structure process and implementation.
