Service and Commissioning Engineer

Location:

Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (Global Services team)

About the Role

Responsible for servicing, repairing, and commissioning fire and safety systems mainly onboard cruise ships, both in operation and under construction at shipyards in Europe. The role includes technical support, assistance, and international travel.

Responsibilities
  • Service and repair work onboard ships (mainly cruise ships)
  • Commissioning work at shipyards in Europe (newbuilds, cruise ships)
  • Provide technical services, customer support, and remote assistance from the office
  • Travel in the USA and globally as required
Qualifications

Customer‑oriented attitude, ability to work independently and collaborate with others, adaptability to changing situations, and ownership of results.

Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience with electronics/automation systems
  • Valid International Passport and ability to travel up to 70% of the time in the US and Caribbean, with additional travel worldwide
  • Physically fit to perform duties that involve climbing numerous stairs, using ladders to embark/disembark ships, and working efficiently in narrow spaces
  • Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment over 8 feet above grade and lifting items up to 50 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Automation, IT (Network administration related)
  • 2+ years’ experience servicing maritime fire detection systems
  • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) experience
  • Practical experience with Microsoft, Linux, Unix systems
  • Knowledge of networked systems (redundancy, hubs, switches, optical)
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repair of hardware and software
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Experience in the marine industry
