Senior Roadway Engineer

Position Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Highway Engineer to join our Miami or Fort Lauderdale, FL office. Your role involves a variety of Highway Engineering assignments, ranging from intersection improvements to interchange reconfigurations and limited access facility widening improvements.

• Perform conceptual and final design of utilities, grading, pavement, drainage, electrical diagrams, mechanical details for structures or bridges, roadway alignment, architectural details, sanitary sewer pump station, water & sewer systems/treatment plan design.
• Research, recommend, and present alternate design approaches based on client requests and governmental code requirements.
• Perform and supervise designs utilizing CAD.
• Coordinate, monitor, and oversee design completion, permit applications, material quantities and cost estimates performed by junior designers and technicians.
• Assist junior professionals in making design decisions.
• Write specifications, feasibility studies, plans, and preliminary reports.
• Organize or direct field visits to collect data or resolve design conflicts.
• Train less experienced junior professionals, designers and CAD technicians as required.
• Occasionally assist in the management of projects.
• Perform other duties as directed by the Supervisor.

• B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering.
• 20+ years of experience.
• P.E. license required.
• FDOT experience (D4 and/or D6) preferred.
• Minimum six (6) years of experience in transportation engineering.
• Familiarity with FDOT Policy and Procedures, including the Florida Design Manual and FDOT Standard Plans.
• Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills.
• Strong technical documentation and report preparation skills.
• Knowledge of production support systems and personal computer proficiency.

Expected compensation range is between $135,000 – $170,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
